HONOREE: HERBERT HOLTZ

Mr. Herbert Holtz served as a Corporal in the United States Army with the 489th Ordnance Evacuation Company. As a Parts Clerk, he supported critical operations across France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, and Czechoslovakia.

During his service, Mr. Holtz participated in five major campaigns, including the southern front of the Falaise Pocket and the Battle of the Bulge. His unit played a vital role in sustaining General Patton’s Third Army as it advanced toward Bastogne. He was also among the forces involved in the liberation of the Weimar concentration camp.

For his service, Mr. Holtz was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation. Following the war, he chose not to speak of his experiences, believing he had simply fulfilled his patriotic duty.
